Extreme poverty within Iraq is rife. Throughout the years the Foundation has spent in the country, the teams have worked tirelessly to try to alleviate it in the areas in which we work, in addition to identifying new areas also requiring assistance. Kirkuk, in the North of Iraq has extreme levels of poverty and the Aegis teams identified a particular area in the city that they wished to support. They initiated talks with the local Muktar in order to aim our support the most effectively and identify some of the poorest families in the community to provide immediate humanitarian assistance to. With the combined help of the Aegis Foundation and locally donated items, the Aegis teams were able to conduct humanitarian distribution in the Al Rasheed district of Kirkuk. This consisted of handing out items such as generators, basic sanitation equipment, children’s toys and food supplements. This joint effort was valued at $12,000 proving that a little action goes a long way in making a significant impact on the families.
