Foundation helps Baghdad Communities
The Aegis Foundation with the Gulf Region Division (GRD) in Iraq have extensively supported local councils throughout Central Iraq. They have been able to identify and distribute medical equipment, school supplies, clothes and toys to the councils in order to directly benefit their communities.
This is yet more proof of how all these different facets of the Coalition in Iraq and the Aegis Foundation can truly make a difference. Generous donations from groups and individuals in the US donated these goods to the GRD who in turn made the donation to the Aegis Foundation. This has equipped the local councils to gain tangible and speedy benefits for their communities.
This venture has demonstrated the enormous potential of Coalition Civil Affairs teams, GRD and the Aegis Foundation partnering together for the benefit of the Iraqi people. One Civil Affairs officer has said,
‘You go to these places, amidst all the chaos and you talk to the Iraqis. They have a vision of building a new Iraq and making life better for their community. You see the Iraqis do not necessarily have the means to accomplish it, so it only remains a dream, a shared hope. Together with the Aegis Foundation, we provide them with the tools to succeed… a realisation that its not a dream anymore. Now its an attainable reality.’
